1. General Commitment
The Brookmont Civic League is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards. We believe that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort, and independence, and we strive to ensure our website is user-friendly for all members of our community.

2. Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The Brookmont Civic League website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. "Partially compliant" means that some parts of the content may not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are a volunteer-run organization and are working diligently to remediate any issues as they are identified.

3. Accessibility Measures
To ensure accessibility on our website, we are taking the following measures:

Alternative Text: We strive to provide alternative text for images to ensure they are readable by screen readers.

Keyboard Navigation: We aim to ensure the website is navigable via keyboard for users who cannot use a mouse.

Color Contrast: We attempt to use color combinations that provide sufficient contrast for text readability.

Clear Headings: We use clear heading structures to help screen readers navigate the content hierarchy.

4. Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the Brookmont Civic League website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions:

  • Archived Documents: Older newsletters or PDF documents uploaded in the past may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. We are working to ensure all new documents are created with accessibility in mind.

  • Third-Party Tools: Some content or widgets provided by third parties (such as embedded maps or payment processors) may not be fully accessible, as these are outside of our direct control.
